Our plush, Soft Spun, "Artisan style", Alpaca yarn knits up quickly and is great for hats, scarves and bulky-weight sweaters. Because we are a small family farm, our yarns are all small batch, one of a kind runs, making each batch truly original. Yarns made of alpaca fibres are lightweight and can be worn next to the skin with very little "itch factor". Alpaca is an outstanding fibre. Besides being luxuriously soft and "prickle free", alpaca fibre has a higher tensile strength and better wicking properties than wool. It is warmer than Merino wool, and contains no grease, oil or lanolin, making it hypoallergenic. Alas, alpaca fibre does not have the best memory, so we blend 80% Alpaca with 20% wool, to give our yarn added loft and memory. This ensures that your project will stay looking beautiful and retain its shape for years to come. Our yarns are all natural colours. No dies or harsh chemicals are used in the processing of this luxurious yarn. In fact, everything that goes into the making of our yarn, from the food our alpacas eat to the processing of their fibre into this exceptional product happens within 100 kilometers of our farm, making this a truly "green" yarn.
