Professional Caregiver Specializing in "Dementia" within 125 klm of Nanaimo

I am a Professional Caregiver specializing in Dementia/Alzheimer. I am 59 years of age "female" with eleven years of full-time employment caring for Seniors/Elderly diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer. I use the Person Centered Care and Bio-Psycho-Social model. In other words, I work with the person first and the illness second. I use reminiscence as a working tool which allows me to discover who the person was prior to her/his diagnoses. I transfer this knowledge when the person becomes agitated and overly confused during the Sun-downing times and other crisis. It helps the person to calm down as they feel validated and included for who they really are as individuals, not the illness. Duties and Responsibilities : dispensing of all medications, renewal of prescriptions, blood sugars, blood pressure, monitoring and daily record keeping of the person's overall health, and driving to Appointments or for pleasurable outings. Other Duties and Responsibilities : household management, shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, gardening, looking after pets big or small if any. I take my work very seriously, pay attention to details and provide a warm Healthy and Safe environment to the person in my care. My personality is very positive, uplifting, gregarious and very energetic. I am extremely patient when dealing with a person who has Dementia/Alzheimer. I use my sensitivity, sensibility and common sense to every day tasks and challenges. I like to keep my client involved in her/his social activities as much as possible. I can provide you with a Recent Criminal Record Check, First-Aid, CPR, Drivers License, Drivers Abstract and my Professional References. P.S. I no longer take on Ambulatory cases and total lack of mobility. I assist when getting up from a chair "recliner" when coming out of bed, assist with showering/bathing for stability, safety and proper hygiene. I am free to travel with my client for short or long periods of time. I have a valid Passport. I am fluent in French and English as well. Its in knowledge that we can walk the road less travel.
