$150 · Phillips Twenty folding bike for sale (Same as Raleigh Twenty)
Hello, I am selling my Phillips Twenty folding bike. It's a great little ride to take to work, school, or on bike paths. 3 speeds, really enjoyable upright riding position, and the handlebars have a large range of up/down adjustment to suit riders of different heights. In great condition, selling it only because I have too many bikes and need some cash to help pay for school.
Some info on these bikes:
It is made by Raleigh in Nottingham, England in the 70's. Phillips was also a smaller bicycle company from Birmingham, England but got bought out by Raleigh in the 60's. After that, Raleigh sold some of their bikes under the Phillips name but the bikes themselves were really made by Raleigh. The frame is identical to a Raleigh Twenty, except for the Phillips branding. I even have a Raleigh Twenty that I can show you to compare to.
The bike itself is in good condition considering its age. The paint on the frame is practically all there, hardly any scratches. It isn't very shiny anymore though, instead has a kind of a matte patina. I'm not sure if it was matte from the factory or if this is simply a result of age.
The frame is free of rust. The rear rim is a bit rusty, but all of the other chrome parts look pretty good. Not Time-Capsule level immaculate, but enough to shine and sparkle in the sun.
All of the functional parts of this bike work well. The brakes have been recently tuned, and the rear 3-speed hub has been disassembled, cleaned and degreased, reassembled and re-oiled with automatic transmission fluid which was the norm for these hubs back in the day. All the wear components in the hub (gears, etc.) looked good. The front hub bearings have also been cleaned out and greased. The only moving part that isn't perfect are the pedals. They are a bit worn.
Shifts well, goes well, stops well.
