To have a place for infant/toddler to be supported in a standing upright position and taking in the world around them. Enough time for caregiver to be hands-free for a bit. We used it for a short period, as ours was a ridiculously early crawler / early walker. But came in very useful during that period between 5 to 9 months. Just set them up in the middle of the action, pick up and put down for intermittent breaks.. We felt ours felt less constrained than if he were in a play pen or strapped in a stroller.. I wasn't able to baby wear with this one, and this was a nice alternative for keeping him safe. Lightweight, with a strap for easy transport.
