HELP HARVEST SEEDLINGS FOR REFORESTATION

Job Description Nursery Workers needed to harvest trees for the tree planters. Re-posted October 6, 2020 Arbutus Grove Nursery Ltd. (AGN) is a second generation family nursery located at 9721 West Saanich Rd in North Saanich BC. We grow containerized tree seedlings for reforestation, as well as Christmas tree farms and native plant nurseries. We are looking for people to join our team for these seasonal harvest and cuttings season: WINTER LIFT PRE XMAS: Nov 4th(ish) - Dec 23 WINTER LIfT POST NEW YEARS: Jan 4- Jan 15 CUTTINGS approx January 18 - Jan 29 PAY: Starting wage at $15.20 /hr Production incentives are available for cuttings. Hourly raises based on hours worked at AGN DUTIES: Seedling harvest duties help prepare our crop for shipping. This may include work on the lifting line such as grading, stacking and wrapping bundles, and boxing. Other tasks include retrieving the crop from the greenhouses as well as cleaning the work areas and growing containers for future use. Cuttings duties are to prepare cut pieces of tree branches for propagation and then sticking them into containers to grow. This job has a modified piece rate incentive to reward those whom are successful QUALIFICATIONS: Only requirement is to respect company safe work procedures and your co-workers. This includes wearing appropriate PPE,following our COVID-19 safety polices, and willingness to participate safe work rotations. You will also need: Ability to stand for long periods a Willingness to co-operate with others All training will be provided. TRANSPORTATION: Own transportation and/or carpooling is required as buses do not run at very accommodating times.
