It's that time of year again when honey bees swarm as a natural means of reproduction. When the swarm signal is triggered in the hive a new queen is produced. When the new queen is close to hatching the old queen leaves the hive with about 50% of the bees to start a new colony. The sight and sound of 20,000 or more bees flying overhead is amazing to see and the whole process is awe inspiring, especially if they land in your backyard! If this happens, please give me a call and I will come and remove the bees from your property, if possible, and give them a new home. There is no charge for this service. I just want to help the bees find a new home before they end up in someones walls, chimney or attic. I am a member of the Capital Region Beekeepers' Association. Thank you, Peter. 250-893-2185
