I am a single father of two, in low income housing in Victoria. It has been a struggle for us lately as work has been hard to find and bills a little harder to keep up to all the time. I lost a great job due to closures in the summer and have been stretching every way possible to make ends meet since then. Even general labor jobs have been hard to find an coordinate with school and daycare. I have come to the point where I have been served an eviction notice and a notice for cut off with bc hydro. I have been running around to different charitable organizations trying to pull together anything. However the kindness of these organizations it seems extends only as far as help with food and presents for my kids. As wonderful as it is that I will be able to have food in their tummys and a couple of presents under the tree, I am still in a hard situation with rent and hydro. I dont know where else to turn at this point. I never ask for help unless i really need it, and I am asking my fellow Victorians for a helping hand to make my childrens christmas what it should be for them. They are 3 and 8, and they are the most wonderful and amazing children. Even if you cant help with money for our rent and hydro, maybe you know of an organization that I do not know of. Like I said, at this point, the situation is desperate. Im still looking for work, but I dont know if I can make it on time even if I find a job immediately.
