Get your FWID! Saturday/Sundays from 8:20 to 5;00 p.m. Classes are held in the Westshore. What can I expect from your Course that is different from the CORE manual or online courses? A lot. Aside from the required CORE course materials, our course instruction weaves our personal knowledge and experiences into course delivery, not limited to instruction in: * Use and knowledge of the BC hunting Synopsis (~ 2 hours in our course) * Field dressing, Skinning and Butchering overview * Knife selection * How to make your game meat taste it's best * Successful fire making strategies * Wilderness emergency communication * How to approach a car accident * How to make free topographic maps * Dominate Eye identification * Bullet selection for hunting * Water wading safety * Successful hunting strategies * Archery and bow information * and many many other topics ... What does it take to pass the course? Students must pass a Practical firearms handling exam or provide proof of passing the CFSC. All students must also achieve 75% or higher on the final written exam. I have no experience in hunting, do you think I will pass? If you have an open mind and can spend some time in advance to familiarize yourself with the CORE topics, success rates for those individuals are very high. Is the CORE manual necessary? In our opinion, Yes. The CORE manual is an excellent reference resource for students well beyond completing your CORE training. Email: thepikes@shaw.ca for more information on registration.
