Our plush, Ultra Fine, "Artisan style" soft spun yarn is made from the finest Baby Alpaca fibre. An alpaca will only have one Baby fleece in its lifetime, so let's enjoy it ! With a micron count of < 20, it doesn't get any softer than Baby Alpaca. Because we are a small family farm, our yarns are all small batch, one of a kind runs, making each batch truly original. Alpaca is an outstanding fibre. Besides being luxuriously soft and "prickle free", alpaca fibre has a higher tensile strength and better wicking properties than wool. It is warmer than Merino wool, and contains no grease, oil or lanolin, making it hypoallergenic. Alas, alpaca fibre does not have the best memory, so we blend 90% ultra fine Baby Alpaca with 10% wool, to give our yarn added loft and memory. This ensures that your project will stay looking beautiful and retain its shape for years to come. Our yarns are all natural colours. No dies or harsh chemicals are used in theprocessing of this luxurious yarn. Infact, everything that goes into the making of our yarn, from the food our alpacas eat to the processing of their fibre into this exceptional product happens within 100 kilometers of our farm, making this a truly "green" yarn.
