Pair of Energy 4.1E speakers in good working condition. The dust covers are perfect. Made in Canada.
They provide solid bottom end without being boomy, with clearly articulated punch and equal energy across the lowest frequencies without resonating. The top end is extended but smooth, with no brittleness or exaggerated sibilance. They are exceptionally smooth and uncoloured through the critical midrange, providing natural, intelligible dialog

With the test lab facilities at the National Research Council in Ottawa at their disposal thanks to the Canadian Government, Energy designed incredibly good sounding and critically praised speakers. Energy first won really serious public acclaim with their model 22 studio monitor, which became the reference standard for the CBC and many other production facilities. The 22 evolved into the 22.2, then expanded into an entire line. That line is represented here.
The larger of the two models, the 4.1e, is easily identified as the final incarnation of the illustrious 22 just by looking at it. It shares the same form factor, sewn-surround woofer and symmetrical anti-vibration vented baffle as the 22.2. It also provides the same kind of realistic, honest, pleasing soundscape.
The line was expanded to include other models, including the 2.1e bookshelf speakers used for surrounds in this system.
Sadly, these models were the end of the road for that design.
