Changes on UsedVictoria.com
September 19, 2008: This week we have released several separate, but related, enhancements to the site. These are:
- Wanted ads: the 'Wanted' category has been replaced with a wanted checkbox when placing an ad. Now you place your wanted ad in the same category as regular 'offered' ads but you also check a 'Wanted' (looking for) checkbox. Buyers can choose to not view wanted ads or can choose to view only wanted ads within a category (see Advanced search below).
- Free ads: the 'Free' category has been replaced with a free checkbox. Buyers can still see all free ads site-wide using the Advanced search (see below) but will also see the free ads categorized by type of good.
- For-trade ads: the for-trade category has likewise been replaced with a checkbox so that those ads will also appear in the category by the type of the good.
The free and for-trade categories will be maintained for 30 days to give the ads there a chance to migrate but no new ads will be accepted in those categories. The ads in the wanted category have been migrated to the appropriate by-type-of-good categories automatically.
- Advanced search: the search within each category has been enhanced in the following ways:
- You can choose to search items in a range of prices.
- You can choose to show only ads near to you by choosing a set of locations (neighbourhoods).
- You can choose to search just wanted ads, just offered (for sale) ads or both together.
- You can choose to show only free items or only for-trade items.
- Search by keyword has been maintained and can be combined with the other search features.
